The name
Shubham means auspicious.
A wedding here starts with the valley at dawn and ends with lamps on the lawn. In between, your family sleeps under our roof, eats at our garden cafe and never has to find a taxi to the next function.
Weddings and events
A hall for the feast. Open sky for the pheras.
Use the banquet hall for dinner and dancing whatever the weather, and the open air for the pheras and the photographs. Your family's rooms are a short walk from both.
How it works
Four steps between hello and the pheras.
After sunset
Now see a real evening.
Evenings here run on string lights, a tunnel of lit arches and a red carpet under a glowing gateway.

Getting here and around
A little out of Manali, on purpose.
Katrain sits on the highway about 20 km short of Manali, so your guests stay clear of the town's traffic and still reach Solang or the Atal Tunnel for a day out.

Questions
Straight answers before you book.
- What does a wedding here cost?
- It depends on the date, the number of guests, the venue and the menu. Send us those four things and we will reply with a written quote for your date.
- Isn't Katrain a little far from Manali?
- It is about 20 km, roughly 30 to 45 minutes by road, and longer in peak-season traffic. For a wedding that distance helps: your guests stay clear of Manali's traffic jams, and Manali, Solang and the Atal Tunnel are still an easy day out. The airport at Bhuntar is about 32 km the other way.
- How many guests can you host?
- It depends on the layout and on whether you use the hall, the open air or both. Tell us your guest count and the functions you are planning, and we will suggest the right set-up.
- Can our family stay on the property?
- Yes. There are 16 rooms on the property, so close family and elders can stay a short walk from the celebration. Add the number of rooms to your enquiry and we will hold them with the venue.
- Do you do the catering, or can we bring our own caterer?
- Our kitchen runs the garden cafe every day, veg and non-veg. Ask us about catering options and menus for your date, and we will explain what is included and what is allowed.
- Who handles the decor?
- Tell us the look you want. We will explain what we can arrange for you and what the policy is for outside decorators.
- Can we have a DJ, and until what time?
- Music is welcome. Outdoor sound has to follow local noise rules and time limits, so ask us for the cut-off that applies to your date and venue.
- Is alcohol allowed at functions?
- Please ask us before you plan a bar. The rules depend on licences and on the kind of event, and we will tell you exactly what applies.
- Is there parking for guests?
- Yes, parking on the property is free. For a large baraat, tell us roughly how many cars are coming and we will plan the arrival with you.
- Is the road open in the monsoon?
- Katrain is on the main Kullu-Manali highway. July and August are the wettest months in the valley, and heavy rain can slow or close roads for a while. Check the road status before you travel, or call us and we will tell you how things look here.
- When is the best time for a wedding here, and will there be snow?
- March to June and mid-September to mid-November bring the clearest days. Snow falls mostly from December to early March, heaviest up at Manali and Solang; Katrain sits lower in the valley. Muhurat months change every year, and the enquiry form shows this year's.
- How do we book, and is there an advance?
- Send an enquiry or call us with your date. We will confirm what is free and explain the advance and cancellation terms before anything is fixed.
- What can guests do between functions?
- Our front desk arranges paragliding, river rafting, camping, treks and sightseeing. Naggar Castle is 6 to 7 km away and Manali about 20 km. Rafting and paragliding pause during the monsoon ban, roughly mid-July to mid-September.
- How do our guests get here?
- The nearest airport is Bhuntar (Kullu-Manali Airport), about 32 km away, and Kullu bus stand is about 21 km. Delhi buses to Manali run along this highway; ask your operator for the Katrain or Patlikuhal stop. Patlikuhal is about 3.5 km away.
